Description
Two of Pittsburgh’s most imaginative craft institutions, Wigle Whiskey and the Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC), are joining forces for the first time to launch a truly handcrafted, homegrown gift for the holidays: Penn/Fairmount Rye.
This spirited collaboration features a Wigle Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey finished with white ash wood called Penn/Fairmount Rye presented in a limited-edition, artist-altered glass bottle, reimagined by PGC artist and Penn/Fairmount designer Jason Forck. Each bottle is a work of art — a celebration of Pittsburgh craft at its finest and most creative: the city’s first distillery since prohibition, paired with its enduring glassmaking tradition.
What is Pittsburgh Glass Center?
– Established in 2001, Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC) is a nonprofit, public-access education center; an art gallery; a state-of-the-art glass studio; a community builder; and a hub for innovation and creativity. Anyone can take classes, explore the contemporary glass gallery, and watch the live hot glass demonstrations. World-renowned glass artists come here to both create and teach.
– Penn/Fairmount is a line of useful and beautiful tableware with a sleek, modern sensibility created by hand at Pittsburgh Glass Center using traditional Venetian techniques. Pittsburgh glass artist Jason Forck and a team of artists have designed distinct silhouettes in a variety of translucent hues.
