Afterglow was inspired by a 19th century tryst between a wealthy whiskey baron’s daughter and a poor red-headed mill worker, which produced Henry Clay Frick, future coke mogul. Their unconventional love story is the inspiration behind our own spicy lovechild: Wigle’s Afterglow Ginger Whiskey.
Wigle is proud to release its second seasonal Ginger Whiskey. We first developed this spirit in collaboration with Chatham University’s Food Studies Graduate Program. Along with our Walkabout Apple Whiskey, this is a seasonal product released each year, around Valentines Day. It is another fierce attempt at redeeming the category of flavored whiskeys. Believe us, this is no cloying, sugary-sweet, chemical flavoring-laden whiskey. Afterglow is free from preservatives, colorants, or artificial flavorings.
Made with baby ginger grown locally at Chatham’s Eden Hall Farm and by Edible Earth Farm. We've roasted this ginger in batches over the course of two days and immediately macerate it in our Organic Small Cask Wheat Whiskey, pulled from 25 gallon casks. After steeping, we mixed in a small amount of organic brown sugar and bottle at 82.37 proof. The resulting spirit is whiskey forward, with a well-rounded sweet and spicy ginger character.
